FAQ

What is Ashton Ukes?
Ashton Ukes is a ukulele jam session established by local ukulele enthusiasts.

When / Where?
Every other Sunday at Ashton Cricket Club, Rayner Lane, off Lord Sheldon Way, Ashton under Lyne, OL7 0FU

What songs do you play?
Check out our songbook.  We usually practice from our jam session songbooks.

I’m a beginner, can I join in?
Of course!  We love to meet new people discovering a passion for the ukulele.
Learning to strum and change chords is challenging (especially if the ukulele is your first instrument) and there is no substitute for practice.  Join in where you can and drop out when you can’t, tap along or just listen, there is no pressure to perform.

Do I need to sing?
Singing is very much encouraged but not a necessity.

What do I need to bring?
Just bring your ukulele and, if you can, the songbooks.  A lot of us read from tablets / iPads and there’s usually room to share.

Can I bring my own music?
Yes, print off some copies for the group or get in touch via the contacts page.  We don’t read sheet music.  Chords and tabs only please!

Can I bring my children?
Yes, as long as they are well behaved.
